Hundreds of people protested in European cities yesterday against Donald Trump and his adviser Elon Musk, after a bruising for the financial markets after the US president revealed sweeping global tariffs.
In the British capital, a few hundred people gathered at Trafalgar Square and held signs that said “proudly American shame” and “WTAF America?”.
The audience shouted “Hands Off Canada”, “Hands Off Greenland” and “Hands Off Ukraine” while listening to speeches criticizing Trump.

Poland encrypted aircraft after Russian strikes on Ukraine
Polish and Allied aircraft were activated early this morning to ensure the security of the Polish airspace after Russia launched air strikes aimed at western Ukraine, the operational command of the Polish armed forces said.
“The steps taken are aimed at ensuring security in the regions bordering on the areas at risk,” said the command at X.
All Ukraine were under Air Raid warnings from 1 p.m. 02.00 GMT today after the Ukrainian Air Force warned of Russian missile attacks.

Zelensky meets European military leaders to plan a peacekeeping strength
Volodymyr Zelenskyy met the leaders of the British and French armed forces in Kiev yesterday to discuss the potential deployment of a multinational peacekeeping force to Ukraine, despite US President Donald Trump’s reluctance to provide security guarantees.
The British Ministry of Defense said officials approached the structure, size and composition of any future “insurance force”, while the head of defense staff, Admiral Antony Radakin, emphasized that the United States would seem to “build on the Ukrainian army’s formidable capacity and put them in the strongest possible position to deter Russian aggression.”
The weekend discussions are scheduled to set the ground for a further meeting between defense ministers in Brussels and Ukraine Defense Contact Group Friday.

Three wounded in Russia’s overnight stay at Mykolaiv, says Ukraine
At least three women were injured after several fires broke out in a Russian air strike on the southern Ukrainian region Mykolaive late last night, Ukraine’s officials said.
The attack – a day after at least 19 people, including nine children, were killed in strikes in the city of Kryvyi Rih – also damaged several houses, Mykolaiv -Governor Vitaly Kim Posted on Telegram.
One of the women was hospitalized and the other two were treated on an outpatient basis, said Ukraine’s State’s relief. It sent photos and videos of firefighters who fought for flames in a house at night.

Zelensky says he is disappointed with the US Embassy Action at Russian Missile strike
Volodymyr Zelensky expressed disappointment at the US Embassy’s response to a Russian missile strike that killed 18 people, including nine children, in his hometown of Kryvyi Rih.
Mr. Zelensky, who has been careful to openly criticize Washington since a troubled meeting of the White House with President Donald Trump in February, wrote on social media side X that several embassies in Kiev had condemned Friday’s attack and appointed Russia for performing it.
He noted that the message from the US Embassy did not refer to Russia by condemning the attack.
“Unfortunately, the answer from the US Embassy is surprisingly disappointing – such a strong country, such a strong people and yet such a weak reaction,” Mr. Zelensky wrote in English.
“They are afraid to even say the word ‘Russian’ when they talk about the missile that murdered children,” he said.

Kryvyi Rih strike, which killed 19 citizens, is a “sober reminder” about Russia’s “barbaric war”, says a foreign office minister.
In a statement on Saturday, Europe’s minister Stephen Doughty said: “Russia’s arbitrary attack on civil infrastructure is a sober reminder that Putin continues to wage his barbaric war against Ukraine.
“Our thoughts are with the victims’ families and loved ones.
“As the Prime Minister has said, Russia could choose to accept a ceasefire, but continues to bomb Ukraine and its population.”

Russia launches air strikes on Kyiv, says Ukraine’s military
Russia launched an overnight air strike on Kiev, with the city’s air defense forces trying to reject the attack, the military administration and mayor of the Ukrainian capital said early today.
“Explosions in the capital. Air defense works. Stay in shelters!” Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on his telegram channel.

Donald Trump has imposed the steepest US tariffs on imports in over a century and charged rates as high as 50 percent in some countries in a step described by the EU as a “big battle” for the world economy.
The US president shocked the global market on Wednesday when he announced minimum rigs of at least 10 percent on almost all exporters to the United States, with much higher tasks for countries enjoying the largest trade surplus.
Southeast Asian nations and some of the world’s weakest economies were most severely affected, which compound the effects of Trump administration’s cuts to the USAID program in many of these countries.
