The UFC 313 culminates with a long -awaited title match this weekend as Alex Pereira defends the lightweight belt against Magomed Ankalaev.
Pereira, a former middleweight master, has been dominant since moving up to 205 lb, won the belt with a knockout by Jiri Prochhazka in 2023 and retained the gold against the Czech, Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rownree – all via stop in 2024.
However, some have long thought that Ankalaev could be the man who discouraged the Brazilian and Russian is finally able to challenge Pereira. While Ankalaev is not the typical Dagestani-fighter-it will say: an out-and-out-wrestler he wants to have a fighting advantage over Pereira in Las Vegas.
Could it prove “Poatan” ‘s Kryptonite, or will the master score another trademark cow? We find out in the main event in UFC 313, after the Co-Main event sees Justin Gaethje Rematch Rafael Fiziev, two years after Gaethje won their razor tight first match.
Fiziev steps in for Dan Hooker on a week’s notice after a hand breaking gave Hooker out of his highly expected clash with Gaethje. Here’s all you need to know.
