Saturday Night Live Once again, President Donald Trump spread over his customs policy that followed from last week’s “Liberation Day” Cold Open.
James Austin Johnson returned to Studio 8H at 30 Rockefeller Plaza as president of an Easter-themed sketch that began with Jesus, played by Mikey Day and threw money lenders out of the temple at his arrival in Jerusalem.
The Biblical Tableau froze as Snl‘s Trump appeared.
“Remind you of someone?” He said to laughter. “I also got rid of money last week, but instead of a temple I did a whole country. Maybe even the globe. The money is gone.”
“Hey, it’s me your favorite president, Donald Jesus Trump, who compares me to the Son of God again,” Johnson continued.
“Many people even call me the Messiah because of Rot in oh made by the economy because of my beautiful tariffs; They are so beautiful. They worked so well that I had to stop them. “
Later he added, “But now everything is back how it was minus a few trillion dollars. A historical transfer of wealth from the middle classes to my friends. Well, yes!”
Johnson then compared the stock market to Jesus: “It died, then on the third day it was risen! And then on the fourth day it died again, possibly never to return, like Jesus.”
“Jesus Christ is a name, we say very recently … We look at our 401K and say, ‘Jesus Christ, where did it all go?”
Johnson’s Trump then mocked other role crew members who are still frozen in their biblical tableau behind him in an attempt to make them break.
There were several Easter jokes: “We love Easter, we love bunny, we love to hunt for eggs, just as everyone is doing in the grocery store right now because they cost a billion billion dollars.”
In other current references, Johnson’s Trump said, “I had my annual physical this week. They said I’m in good shape. One of the best forms … lump.”
Returning to the subject at Easter and his customs rates, Snl Trump said, “But in the holiest seasons, Easter, let’s remember the lesson that Mr. Jesus taught us as he went buck on these money exchangers … We must never mix religion with trade.”
“You can read all about it in my Trump Bible,” he said to laughter. “Now made in America, so it costs $ 1,300 and it falls even faster.”
Wrapped the sketch in traditional way, Johnson’s Trump let the other role crews free themselves and join him in the traditional: “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”
Saturday’s edition of NBC’s flagship entertainment show, which recently celebrated his 50 -year anniversary, was hosted by actor Jon Hamm with musical guest Lizzo.
