A priest has been arrested after allegedly using a 13-year-old girl’s hair as a dental floss while waiting to see a relic, police say.
Carlos Martins was detained Monday after the incident on November 21, when officers arrived in St. Paul the Apostle Church in Jolia, Illinois, in the afternoon, police said in a statement. The church hosted an exhibition and fair as well as a national tour of the relics from the St jude Apostle.
The priest who was visiting from Detroit as part of St. Jude Relic Tour, alleged to have approached the girl while she was in line to see the relics.
He is reported to have asked about her hair before he grabbed it and created a floss in his mouth using the hair, according to the police statement.
The girl told police that Martins was then sitting behind her making a growling sound, officials said.
Following a study, detectives presented their report to Will County State’s Attorney’s Office. The office approved a wrongdoing with battery fee against the 50-year-old. He was detained Monday morning, processed and subsequently released on a message to appear.
The priest’s status with the Archdiocese of Detroit is listed as “the ministry revoked.”
A hearing is planned in Will County Circuit Court in Jolia on February 24th.

Martins is known to perform exorcisms and hosting Exorcist files podcast, Daily Mail noted.
Martins’ lawyer, Marcella Burke, told Stella Maris Media That the charge against her client is “creepy and unfounded.”
“The evidence will show that Father Carlos did not” fray “with the student’s hair or” crushed “among other false and repulsive accusations,” Burke said.
The lawyer continued to state that the claims were “a dismantling of a good priest and an attempt at church in the church.”
“As he always does, Father Martins began his interaction with the participants in the dialogue with ‘Chit-Chat’. He is bald and suitable to joke about it as a conversation starts, ”Burke said in a letter obtained by etc News.
“During his conversation with the older students, commented on a student about his long hair and noticed,” You and I have almost the same hairstyle, “she added.
“He then noticed that he also once had long hair like hers, and he joked that he would” floss my teeth with it, “Burke continued.
“He then asked the student, ‘Have you ever flossed with your hair?’ Laughing, she shook her head, no. He then said, ‘Well, you have the perfect length for it,’ as he lifted a lock from her shoulders to show her his length. She giggled with the others, ”the lawyer claimed.
Burke said in his statement in November that when the teenager shared the story at home, her father was “upset over what he heard and called the police.”
The companion of the cross, Martins’ order, suspended him pending an investigation, but subsequently stated that a proper process was needed.
“The companion’s companions look at accusations of mismatch as an urgent question that requires serious attention,” it states in a statement, according to Mail. “We pray for all those affected by this painful situation.”
