New Delhi [India]October 5 (ANI): Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi will visit Germany to strengthen India’s cooperation in sustainable development and renewable energy, starting October 6, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said on Saturday.

During his three-day visit, he will attend the Hamburg Sustainability Conference from 7-8 October and will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with ministers from Germany, the UK and other senior officials to strengthen cooperation in sustainable development, Green Hydrogen , low-cost financing and entire renewable energy value chain components.

According to the statement, Joshi will also assert India’s position on green shipping and the role of green hydrogen to decarbonize the mobility sector at the conference.

The visit will enhance ties between India and Germany to create business opportunities and accelerate the expansion of renewable energy in India and globally, the ministry added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid special emphasis on the bilateral relations between India and Germany. Intergovernmental consultations between the leaders of India and Germany are scheduled in India in October this year.

During RE-INVEST 2024 held in September, both countries launched the India-Germany Platform for Investment in Renewable Energy. The platform will facilitate the creation of additional business opportunities and new avenues to meet the growing demand for capital, support technology transfer and enhance the development of innovative technical solutions in renewable energy worldwide.

India had achieved its NDC target of 40 percent cumulative electricity installed capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy sources by 2030 by 2021, nine years ahead of schedule and is on track to achieve its NDC target of achieving 50 percent cumulative electricity installed power from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030.

India’s energy transition efforts will lead to investment and job opportunities in the renewable energy sector, the ministry said.

It further added that India is at the forefront of international efforts for the development and deployment of renewable energy, including through the International Solar Alliance, and this visit to the sustainability conference will further boost India’s efforts in global energy transition.(ANI)
