Estate of the late pop icon George Michael has issued a statement that thanks Taylor Swift for incorporating one of her classic songs into her new albums.

It includes a song entitled “Father Figure”, which includes an interpolating Michael’s 1987 hit with the same name.
In a statement sent to Michael’s official Instagram account, his property said: “We were delighted when Taylor Swift and her team approached us earlier this year to incorporate an interpolver of George Michael’s classic song ‘Father Figure’ in a whole new song of the same title to appear on her upcoming album.
“When we heard the track, we did not hesitate to agree on this association between two great artists and we know that George would have felt the same. George Michael Entertainment wants Taylor any success with Life on a showgirl and ‘Father Figure’. “
Due to the nature of the interpolation, Michael is credited as co -author of Swift’s “Farfigure” together with Swift himself and the producers Max Martin and Shellback.
Michael’s “Father Figure” reached number 11 on the British charts when it was released in December 1987 and topped the charts in the United States the following January. It was nominated for a Grammy in 1989 and has been one of the singer’s most beloved songs.
Michael, who made his name as a member of WHAM! Before a recognized solo career died for natural reasons in 2016 at the age of 53.

Her new record comes after Swift announced her commitment to Kansas City Chiefs, tight end Travis Kelce, and in the wake of she bought the rights to master recordings of her first six albums.
She makes a number of rare TV and radio appearances to promote the post, including The Graham Norton show On the BBC Friday night as well as on Capital and Heart’s breakfast radio shows earlier the same day.
Friday night also marks the launch of The official release party of a showgirl In cinemas that will include the world premiere of the music video for the single “The Fate of Ophelia”, along with recordings behind the scenes and lyrical videos.
