Air India Plane Crash Live Updates: India May ‘Ground Boeing 787’ After the airline confirms 241 aboard killed

British National says he went away from Air India Plane Crash Disaster

All passengers, but an Air India flight that went to London, died after it crashed into a huge fireball moment after starting in India’s western city of Ahmedabad.

Air India confirmed that 241 of the 242 people aboard the flight did not survive where only a British national miraculously escaped with minor injuries.

The Indian government is temporarily considering grounding Air India’s Boeing 787 fleet, reported Indian TV company NDTV.

Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, the only survivor, sat in seat 11a as the plane crashed. He described moments before the plane crashed into a residential area and said to the newspaper, “Thirty seconds after start there was a loud noise, and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly.”

Air India said passengers included 169 Indians, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese citizens and a Canadian. “We still verify the number of dead, including those killed in the building where the plane crashed,” said a senior police officer.

On Friday, as the search for bodies continues, investigators reportedly recovered one of the two black boxes from the wreck.

Crash Survivor says he escaped through broken emergency exit

The only survivor of Air India Plane Crash, who killed more than 240 people, said he was going out of a broken emergency exit after the plane hit a medical college hostel in the city of Ahmedabad.

Ramesh Viswashkumar, who police said was on seat 11a near the emergency exit and managed to escape through the broken hatch, was filmed after yesterday’s crash, limping on the street in a blood-colored t-shirt with bruises on the face.

That footage of social media of the British national of Indian origin was sent on almost all India’s news channels after Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner fell shortly after the start and broke out in a fireball.

It was the worst aviation disaster in a decade.

“I don’t think how I survived. For some time, I thought I was going to die too,” 40-year-old Viswashkumar told Indian State Broadcaster DD News from his hospital bed.

“But when I opened my eyes, I realized I was alive and I was trying to remove myself from the seat and flee from where I could. It was in front of my eyes that the air host and others (died).”

Mr. Viswashkumar said the plane seemed to be quieting in Midair for a few seconds shortly after starting and that the green and white cabin lights were turned on.

He said he could feel the engine rising, but then the aircraft crashed “at speed into the hostel.”

Doctors told local media that he had no major injuries.

“The side of the plane I was in the country on the ground and I could see that there was space outside the plane, so when my door broke, I tried to escape through it, and I did,” said Mr Viswashkumar.

“The opposite side of the aircraft was blocked by the building wall so no one could have come from there.”

Arunbhai Mangal Bhai Parmar, 38, was in the kitchen of his apartment on the sixth floor when he saw the plane suddenly falling from the sky.

“It flyed straight and suddenly it stopped,” he said. “It didn’t go forward at all just in the middle of the air. And then the explosion happened.”
