To this end, in December 2022, Science Hub hosted its annual autumn symposium. The event together has Amazon scientists, my faculties, administrative leaders, post documents and doctoral duties from the entire institution. Wait learned about current collaborations between MIT and Amazon, heard from 2022 Amazon Fellows, and explored new opportunities for research in areas, including robotics and conversation AI via Rounded Moderated by Amazon researchers and mine.
“This event is taking us together to continue to tackle the most important invention challenges in various areas, including robotics, conversation AI, video understanding, databases and distributed systems,” said Rohit Prasad, senior vice president and main scientist for Alexa. “When we end a successful first year and begin our second year, I am proud of what has been achieved so quickly and excited to see Science Hub’s activities in 2023 will continue to shape the future of technology.”
Wait heard from a large number of speakers, included Cindy Barnhart, my provost; Aude Oliva, senior scientist, director of strategic industry -engagement in my Schwarzman College of Computing; And Tue Brady, Amazon Robotics Chief Technologologist.
Spyros MatSoukas, vice president and distinguished scientist at Alexa AI, about “scalable conversation ai through self -learning”
“It is always intellectally stimulating and rewarding to bring together faculties, researchers and colleagues from all over the campus to present and discuss topics of mutual interest,” Naded Barnhart, who is also the Ford Foundation professor and professor of operational research, Sloan School of Management.
“It was electric to have so many bright minds in the room at the same time,” Brady, a MIT -alumnus, agreed. “In addition to parts of advanced research in technology, we were able to connect each other to better understand and improve how academia and industry can work together. I am so pleased with how much we have achieved in a relatively short time.”
Mohammad Abuomar, Head of Technology, Amazon Virtual Product Placement, On: “Challenges and Applications in Content Understanding and Generation”
The day included conversations from researchers about a wide range of research topics, including robotics, conversation AI, content understanding and generation, video understanding and databases and distributed systems.
“Listening and learning about all the fantastic research projects that are underway as a result of the Science Hub is extremely exciting,” Oliva said.
