UK that must be hit by several thunderstorms as warnings

Several areas in the UK have been warned to expect heavy rain and thunderstorms through the weekend and into next week as the Met Office releases fresh yellow weather warnings.

The forecast released two yellow rain alarms for Scotland and Southwest England on Sunday, when a thunderstorm warning was introduced for large parts of the UK on Monday.

The rain warning covering Scotland is set to be in place until noon on Sunday, while the warning to the Southwest will last until 1 p.m. 21 that day.

On Monday, the UK is stiffened for further thunderstorms, as the Met Office issued a further yellow warning between 7 p.m. 11 and 21.

Met Office said that people in these areas should prepare for the small chance of power cuts and that home and business could be flooded.

These thunderstorms could bring 15 to 20 mm of rain within an hour of places, with maybe so much 30 mm in a few hours, according to Met Office.

Chief Meteorologist Andy Page said: “Intense rain will affect parts of the UK when thunderstorms move in from France.

“This weekend is expected to be busy on the roads as several schools in England and Wales break up for the summer holidays, so it is important that people stay up to date with the very first prognosis.

“There will be magic forms with more comfortable weather in parts of the UK through the weekend with some sunny spells between systems as they move through.”

Earlier on Saturday, an Amber Alert came into force for London, parts of southern and southeast England from 1 p.m. 04 to 11. The hangers were seen across the capital of what was the first Amber warning issued to London since January 2024.
